This is a totally new idea for a photographic workshop. We are all going to board the ferry and travel to exotic Port Townsend for a day of photography. While there, we will travel as a group to a particular location, or spot. Dick will talk about what he sees there, and what in particular he sees as a photographic subject. Then, participants will have approximately 1 hour to imagine "how would Dick shoot this", and make a photograph. This sequence will be repeated at 3 more locations.
This will actually be a workshop with 4 mini-assignments. Every one of the assignments will be very distinct.
Past workshop photographers have always marveled at how even though photographers are confined to a small area, everyone sees everything differently. This workshop will take that a step further and allow you to work on interpretation. Imagination will be rewarded.
We will definitely work very hard, and will probably laugh even harder. We will take time to eat as a group (if we are still getting along). As a bonus, if the weather cooperates and people's energy allows, we may add an extra "night" shot. Bring tripods if you have them. Dress appropriately. A sunny disposition, no matter the weather, is required.
There will be a critique after all of this has been survived. There could be prizes awarded.
